Taking place in June at the United Nations (UN) Headquarters in New York, the OSPO for Good 2023 Symposium highlights the significance of open-source technology. The conference extends over several days and encompasses panel discussions, speaker sessions, and workshops, with the objective of fostering the understanding and raising the awareness of the utilization of open-source technology across the private and public sectors, as well as academia.
Open-source technology has a great potential to promote sustainable development. Therefore, United Nations Member States are showing growing interest in finding new ways to actively promote and support their usage in order to fully harness the benefits of these technologies and align them with UN’s mandates, goals, and perspectives.
Maria Dalhage, Senior Project Manager at JobTech Development, will be joining a panel discussion titled "Government OSPOs & Constituent Good" alongside digital experts from the Netherlands, USA, and Japan. The panelists will provide valuable insights into the role of Government OSPOs (Open Source Program Offices) in promoting societal benefits, addressing the existing challenges, and exploring how partnerships and greater involvement in leveraging open-source technology within the public sector can result in more cost-effective and transparent processes.
Maria Dalhage, Senior Project Manager at JobTech Development
“In our ongoing collaboration among various government agencies, we are dedicated to utilizing open data, open-source tools, and APIs as delivery means to develop and establish a cohesive data infrastructure for skills supply and lifelong learning. By sharing our data and technology, stakeholders from both the public and private sectors can join forces to address our societal challenges. We are transitioning from ego to ecosystem. I look forward to engaging in discussions with other panel participants to explore strategies for organizing knowledge sharing, exchanging experiences, and fostering an open dialogue.", says Maria Dalhage.
JobTech Development has been advocating for open-source technology and open data since its inauguration five years ago. All components and technical solutions on the platform are freely available for anyone to use and develop.
